All Meitarim principals meet monthly in order to evaluate their own progress and to determine whether or not the school is meeting its stated objectives.
This self-evaluation, conducted amongst peers with a professional facilitator,
has proved invaluable. Principals learn from each others' experiences,
allowing them to implement methods that have been successful and avoid
areas where others have previously failed.
At these monthly meetings Meitarim staff find out if the curriculum that Meitarim
is providing is working in the classroom.
Based on this feedback, the curricula is refined and a yom iyun (day of learning)
is held where the new curricula is introduced.
At these meetings principals express what has and what has not been working in their school,
and Meitarim, often with the assistance of the local racaz yahadut and using data collected
from all Meitarim principals, offers new approaches as needed.
Meitarim's course for new administrators currently has seven candidates and takes place
on the campus of the Re'ut Institute for Pluralistic Training.
At Re'ut, the principals learn in real time how to operate in a pluralistic environment.
Candidates who successfully complete the course are placed at Meitarim
schools the following year.
